Amanat Foundation Trust is a well known NGO working in the fields of health, education and poverty elimination and also general welfare of the people since July, 1994, specially in rural and remote areas where such activities are rarely found all over the state of West Bengal an eastern province of Indian Republic.
        The Foundation has been functioning sincerely on social mobilization under Polio Eradication since 2003, when West Bengal was badly polio prone and 28 Polio cases were found at the end of this year. Amanat Foundation was able to mobilize Ulemas, religious leaders and socio-political activists, especially among the Muslims. The situation was changed and Pulse Polio Immunization became successful as polio cases in the state were significantly decreasing in following years. As a result, 2005 was totally Polio free and only one case in 2006. Beside polio eradication, efforts have been made to popularize Routine Immunization and prevention of HIV/AIDS in some districts where the menace reached alarming proportions.
        The Foundation organised 11 Teachers� Training Programme for primary level Madrasah teachers to enhance their teaching skills and supplied curriculum on modern subjects like Bengali, English, Mathematics, Science, Social studies and Computer. 546 such teachers participated in these training programmes and benefited a lot. Such other training programmes for in-service teachers, entrepreneurship development programme, salesmanship and marketing management programmes are also organised in recent past.
        It endeavours to generate awareness among the masses to send their children to school to promote literacy and primary education and also to make success of Government�s programme �Education for All�. Thousands of children have been admitted to schools under �School Chalo Avijan� and in this trail Amanat has got a chance to participate in Sarba Siksha Avijan (SSA) under DPEP of Uttar Dinajpur and Murshidabad district.
        Amanat Foundation has undertaken the projects of empowering poor, especially women, coming from BPL families by promoting and stabilizing Self Help Group (SHG) and Micro Credit (MC) mechanism. This effort is gaining the potentiality in this field in AFT�s working areas and it has already intricate four districts of the state like Murshidabad, Birbhum, North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas. Presently the number of SHG is 202 in these districts. The members of SHGs are practicing regular savings, realizing loans through their own savings and making colossal fund for their potentiality. They are also getting financial assistance from organization under Loan Promotion Scheme. They sit together, speak together and decide together to solve any problem. These attributes enrich their cohesion in the group and make them important in the community. This approach is unfurling better scope of education, health and other services to the marginalised people and help poor to become desirous citizens.
        Apart from these, we have been engaged in numerous socio-economic activities offering valuable services in all the districts through our efficient network throughout the state of West Bengal. Amanat is trying to organize relief work, networking Madrasahs, Maktabs also local NGOs and CBOs as these institutions could be our assets in promotion of education and welfare activities. We have extended our network with more than 500 local NGOs, CBOs, clubs and societies in different Blocks throughout the state to improve their skills for disaster management and to usher development activities.
        In the meantime Amanat Foundation has built-up partnership with unicef, ACCESS and PAS, USA, IHH, Germany, IDB, KSA, CARITAS- West Bengal and St. John Ambulance and also working with MAEF, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India and SSA-DPEP and District Health and Family Welfare Samity under Govt. of West Bengal and also with District Administration of 9 districts.
