Welcome to
official website of Amanat
Foundation Trust
|
Amanat Foundation Trust is a
well known NGO working in the fields of health,
education and poverty elimination and also general
welfare of the people since July, 1994, specially
in rural and remote areas where such activities
are rarely found all over the state of West Bengal
an eastern province of Indian Republic.
The
Foundation has been functioning sincerely on
social mobilization under Polio Eradication since
2003, when West Bengal was badly polio prone and
28 Polio cases were found at the end of this year.
Amanat Foundation was able to mobilize Ulemas,
religious leaders and socio-political activists,
especially among the Muslims. The situation was
changed and Pulse Polio Immunization became
successful as polio cases in the state were
significantly decreasing in following years. As a
result, 2005 was totally Polio free and only one
case in 2006. Beside polio eradication, efforts
have been made to popularize Routine Immunization
and prevention of HIV/AIDS in some districts where
the menace reached alarming proportions.
The
Foundation organised 11 Teachers Training
Programme for primary level Madrasah teachers to
enhance their teaching skills and supplied
curriculum on modern subjects like Bengali,
English, Mathematics, Science, Social studies and
Computer. 546 such teachers participated in these
training programmes and benefited a lot. Such
other training programmes for in-service teachers,
entrepreneurship development programme,
salesmanship and marketing management programmes
are also organised in recent past.
It
endeavours to generate awareness among the masses
to send their children to school to promote
literacy and primary education and also to make
success of Governments programme Education for
All. Thousands of children have been admitted to
schools under School Chalo Avijan and in this
trail Amanat has got a chance to participate in
Sarba Siksha Avijan (SSA) under DPEP of Uttar
Dinajpur and Murshidabad district.
Amanat
Foundation has undertaken the projects of
empowering poor, especially women, coming from BPL
families by promoting and stabilizing Self Help
Group (SHG) and Micro Credit (MC) mechanism. This
effort is gaining the potentiality in this field
in AFTs working areas and it has already
intricate four districts of the state like
Murshidabad, Birbhum, North 24 Parganas and South
24 Parganas. Presently the number of SHG is 202 in
these districts. The members of SHGs are
practicing regular savings, realizing loans
through their own savings and making colossal fund
for their potentiality. They are also getting
financial assistance from organization under Loan
Promotion Scheme. They sit together, speak
together and decide together to solve any problem.
These attributes enrich their cohesion in the
group and make them important in the community.
This approach is unfurling better scope of
education, health and other services to the
marginalised people and help poor to become
desirous citizens.
Apart
from these, we have been engaged in numerous
socio-economic activities offering valuable
services in all the districts through our
efficient network throughout the state of West
Bengal. Amanat is trying to organize relief work,
networking Madrasahs, Maktabs also local NGOs and
CBOs as these institutions could be our assets in
promotion of education and welfare activities. We
have extended our network with more than 500 local
NGOs, CBOs, clubs and societies in different
Blocks throughout the state to improve their
skills for disaster management and to usher
development activities.
In
